Plinko Drop
Drop coloured balls through a peg lattice and watch them rattle down into a heap.
About Plinko Drop
Plinko Drop is eleven staggered rows of pegs and as many balls as you care to throw at them. Every row is offset from the one above, so nothing can fall straight through — each ball has to negotiate the entire lattice, ricocheting left and right on the way down. Two balls dropped from exactly the same spot will not follow the same path, because a tiny nudge at the first peg compounds into a completely different route by the eleventh. That sensitivity is the whole appeal: you know roughly where a ball will land and never precisely.
What makes it worth watching rather than just clicking is what happens at the bottom. Balls do not disappear when they land. They collide with each other, roll into gaps, and settle into a genuine heap that builds unevenly and slumps when a new arrival lands badly on the shoulder of the pile. Balls that come fully to rest stop being simulated, which keeps the heap stable and lets several hundred of them coexist without the whole thing turning to soup.
Auto Rain opens the tap and drops a steady stream across the full width, which is the mode to leave running while you do something else — the pile grows and reshapes itself continuously, and the colour cycles so the heap stratifies into bands. Clear empties the field instantly. There is no score, no objective, and no fail state. It runs in the browser on desktop and mobile, free, with nothing to install.
How to Play
- Tap or click anywhere along the top of the board to drop a ball from that position.
- Watch it ricochet down through the staggered peg rows — the path is different every time, even from the same starting point.
- Balls collect at the bottom and collide with each other, building a heap that shifts as more land on it.
- Press Auto Rain for a continuous stream across the full width, or Clear to empty the board and start again.
Controls
- Left click / Tap
- Drop a ball at that horizontal position
- Auto Rain
- Toggle a continuous stream of balls
- Clear
- Remove every ball from the board
Tips & Strategy
- Drop repeatedly on the exact same spot. Watching identical starts diverge into completely different landings is the best demonstration of what the lattice is doing.
- Aim at the far left or right edge. Wall bounces send balls back across the board on much longer, less predictable routes.
- Let Auto Rain run for a minute or two without touching anything. The heap builds in colour bands because the hue cycles as balls spawn.
- Drop a heavy burst onto one shoulder of an existing pile to trigger a slump — the heap redistributes itself in one satisfying slide.
- Clear and restart when the pile reaches the pegs. Balls resting against the lowest row change how everything above them falls.
