Bubble Pop
An endless sheet of virtual bubble wrap, with the pop sound that makes it work.
About Bubble Pop
Bubble Pop is digital bubble wrap, and it lives or dies on one detail: the sound. Every bubble plays a short synthesised pop, pitched slightly differently each time, so dragging across a row produces a rattling cascade rather than the same sample repeated. The pitch drops fast and the tail is almost nothing, which is what makes a real bubble sound like a bubble instead of a click. On phones each pop also fires a brief haptic tap, so the sheet has some physical weight to it.
Visually the bubbles are lit from the upper left with a specular highlight, and a popped one does not simply vanish. It becomes a dimple, darker and concave, with a ring that expands outward on the frame it bursts. That means a half-cleared sheet actually looks half-cleared, and there is a real pull to go back and hunt down the survivors scattered among the dimples. The counter at the bottom tracks exactly how many are left, which is either soothing or mildly compulsive depending on your temperament.
The sheet resizes itself to whatever screen you are on, so a desktop monitor gets several hundred bubbles and a phone gets a comfortable thumb-sized grid. There is no timer, no score, and no way to fail. New Sheet gives you a fresh unpopped one instantly, as many times as you like. It is free, runs entirely in the browser, and needs no download or account.
How to Play
- Click or tap any bubble to pop it. Hold and drag to pop a whole run of them in one sweep.
- Popped bubbles turn into dark dimples and stay that way, so you can always see what is left.
- Watch the counter at the bottom to track how many of the sheet you have cleared.
- Press New Sheet at any point for a fresh, completely unpopped sheet, and use Sound to mute if you are somewhere quiet.
Controls
- Left click
- Pop a bubble
- Click and drag
- Pop everything you sweep across
- Tap / swipe
- Same on touchscreens, with haptic feedback
Tips & Strategy
- Drag diagonally rather than straight across. Diagonal sweeps cross more rows, so the pops layer into a faster cascade.
- Slow, deliberate single taps sound completely different from a fast drag. The pitch variation is much more audible one bubble at a time.
- Clearing methodically row by row is the calmer way to play. Hunting scattered survivors at the end is the more compulsive one.
- On a phone, keep the sound on. The haptic tap and the pop are timed together and the effect is much weaker with either one missing.
- A wider browser window gives you a larger sheet, so maximise it if you want a long uninterrupted run.
